Ingredients
Scale
Dough:
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F or 45°C)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
Filling:
- 1 cup fresh or canned peaches, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and the egg, mixing until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Knead the Dough: Gradually add the remaining flour and knead the dough for 6–8 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic, ensuring proper gluten development for a tender roll.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon thoroughly to create the cinnamon-sugar filling.
- Roll and Fill Dough: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top. Distribute the finely chopped peaches evenly over the cinnamon-sugar layer.
- Shape the Rolls: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spacing slightly apart.
- Second Rise: Cover the rolls lightly and let them rise again for 30–40 minutes until they become puffy and nearly doubled in size.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25–30 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top and are cooked through.
- Prepare the Glaze: While the rolls are still warm, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth to form a glaze.
- Glaze and Serve: Drizzle the glaze generously over the warm cinnamon rolls. Serve immediately to enjoy the soft texture and rich flavors.
Notes
- Use fresh peaches in season for the best flavor, or canned peaches drained well if fresh are not available.
- If you prefer a stronger cinnamon flavor, increase the cinnamon in the filling by 1 teaspoon.
- For a dairy-free option, substitute milk with almond or oat milk and use a plant-based butter alternative.
- Ensure the milk is warm (110°F/45°C) to activate the yeast without killing it.
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before rolling can make handling easier but is optional.
