Description

These Peachy Cinnamon Rolls are a delightful twist on the classic cinnamon roll, featuring sweet fresh or canned peaches within a soft, tender dough. Perfect for brunch or a special breakfast treat, they combine a cinnamon-sugar filling with juicy peaches, all topped with a smooth vanilla glaze.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough:

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F or 45°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Filling:

  • 1 cup fresh or canned peaches, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and the egg, mixing until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  2. Knead the Dough: Gradually add the remaining flour and knead the dough for 6–8 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic, ensuring proper gluten development for a tender roll.
  3. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon thoroughly to create the cinnamon-sugar filling.
  5. Roll and Fill Dough: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top. Distribute the finely chopped peaches evenly over the cinnamon-sugar layer.
  6. Shape the Rolls: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spacing slightly apart.
  7. Second Rise: Cover the rolls lightly and let them rise again for 30–40 minutes until they become puffy and nearly doubled in size.
  8. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25–30 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top and are cooked through.
  9. Prepare the Glaze: While the rolls are still warm, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth to form a glaze.
  10. Glaze and Serve: Drizzle the glaze generously over the warm cinnamon rolls. Serve immediately to enjoy the soft texture and rich flavors.

Notes

  • Use fresh peaches in season for the best flavor, or canned peaches drained well if fresh are not available.
  • If you prefer a stronger cinnamon flavor, increase the cinnamon in the filling by 1 teaspoon.
  • For a dairy-free option, substitute milk with almond or oat milk and use a plant-based butter alternative.
  • Ensure the milk is warm (110°F/45°C) to activate the yeast without killing it.
  • Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before rolling can make handling easier but is optional.
