Ingredients
Scale
Bean Layer
- 2 cans (15 ounces each) refried beans
- 1 can (4 ounces) diced green chilies
- 3 tablespoons taco seasoning
Cheese and Dairy
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
- 2 cups sour cream
Guacamole and Toppings
- 2 cups prepared guacamole
- 1 can (4 ounces) sliced black olives
- 1 cup pico de gallo
Instructions
- Heat and season beans: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the refried beans, diced green chilies, and taco seasoning. Stir frequently until the mixture is heated through and well combined.
- Layer the dip base: Spread the warm seasoned beans evenly onto a large platter. Allow the beans to stand for 5 to 10 minutes to cool slightly, which helps the layers set better.
- Add cheese and sour cream: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the bean layer. Then, carefully spread the sour cream over the cheese layer using the back of a spoon to maintain distinct layers.
- Layer guacamole and remaining cheese: Spread the prepared guacamole gently over the sour cream layer. Next, sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the guacamole evenly.
- Top with olives and pico de gallo: Evenly sprinkle the sliced black olives over the guacamole and finish by topping with the fresh pico de gallo.
- Serve or store: Serve the dip immediately with tortilla chips for dipping. If preparing ahead, cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 24 hours to keep the flavors fresh.
