Description

This Easy Yogurt Cake is a simple, moist, and delicious dessert perfect for any occasion. Utilizing plain yogurt as a key ingredient makes the cake tender and naturally flavorful. With straightforward ingredients and minimal preparation, this cake is an ideal treat to whip up quickly for family gatherings or casual afternoons.

Ingredients

Scale

Yogurt Cake Ingredients

  • 1 (5 ounce) container plain yogurt
  • 1/2 yogurt container vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 yogurt containers white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 yogurt containers all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch round springform cake pan thoroughly to prevent sticking and set aside.
  2. Mix Yogurt and Oil: Empty the plain yogurt container into a mixing bowl. Use the same container to measure half a container of vegetable oil and add it to the yogurt. Set this mixture aside. Rinse and dry the yogurt container to use it again as a measuring tool for other ingredients.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Add the 2 large eggs, 1 1/2 containers of white sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the yogurt-oil mixture. Beat well using a mixer or whisk until everything is thoroughly combined and smooth.
  4. Add Dry Ingredients: Incorporate 1 3/4 containers of all-purpose flour, 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder, and a pinch of salt into the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined; be careful not to overmix. The batter should be thick and smooth.
  5. Pour and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared springform cake pan, smoothing the top evenly with a spatula. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Notes

  • Make sure the eggs are at room temperature to create a smoother batter.
  • You can substitute vegetable oil with canola or sunflower oil for a lighter flavor.
  • Using the yogurt container as a measuring tool simplifies the process and reduces dishwashing.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before removing the springform to avoid breakage.
  • This cake pairs wonderfully with fresh berries or a dusting of powdered sugar.
