Description

Colorful Jello Cookies are vibrant, fruity sugar cookies infused with a variety of Jello flavors, creating a fun and delightful treat that’s perfect for parties or everyday snacking. These easy-to-make cookies combine classic sugar cookie dough with the fruity zest of assorted gelatin powders for a unique burst of flavor and color in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1 box Sugar Cookie Mix (or homemade sugar cookie batter)
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, room temperature
  • 1 large Egg

Jello Flavors

  • 1 box Cherry or Strawberry Jello
  • 1 box Orange Jello
  • 1 box Lemon Jello
  • 1 box Lime Jello
  • 1 box Berry Blue Jello
  • 1 box Grape Jello

For Coating

  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line cookie sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Dough: In a large bowl, combine the sugar cookie mix, room temperature butter, and the egg following the package instructions or your homemade recipe until the dough is smooth and slightly sticky.
  3. Divide Dough and Add Jello: Split the dough evenly into six portions. Mix each portion thoroughly with a different box of Jello powder (Cherry, Orange, Lemon, Lime, Berry Blue, and Grape) until the dough is uniformly colored and vibrant.
  4. Form Dough Balls: Roll each colored dough portion into 1-inch diameter balls, ensuring they are uniform for even baking.
  5. Coat with Sugar: Roll each dough ball in granulated sugar, coating them evenly to add sweetness and a slight crunch.
  6. Arrange and Bake: Place the sugar-coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart to allow room for spreading. Bake in the preheated oven for 11-13 minutes, or until the edges turn a light golden brown.
  7. Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes to set, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Use room temperature butter to ensure the dough mixes well and produces a tender cookie.
  • You can substitute the boxed sugar cookie mix with your favorite homemade sugar cookie recipe.
  • Feel free to experiment with other fruit-flavored Jello varieties for different color and flavor combinations.
  • Do not overbake; cookies should be lightly golden at the edges to keep them soft inside.
  • These cookies store well in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
