Description

These Supreme Pizza Hand Pies are a delicious and convenient snack or appetizer, packed with classic pizza flavors like mozzarella, Italian sausage, pepperoni, and veggies all wrapped in flaky pie crusts. Perfectly baked until golden and served warm, they make a crowd-pleasing treat for game days, parties, or anytime you crave a handheld pizza delight.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)

Filling

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup cooked Italian sausage, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup diced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 2 tablespoons sliced black olives
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Egg Wash

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Cut Dough Circles: Unroll the refrigerated pie crusts and use a 4- to 5-inch round cutter to cut out 4–6 circles from each crust. Re-roll the scraps as needed to make additional circles for more pies.
  3. Make the Filling: In a small bowl, combine pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, cooked Italian sausage, diced pepperoni, chopped green bell pepper, chopped red onion, sliced black olives, and Italian seasoning. Mix well until evenly combined.
  4. Assemble Hand Pies: Place 1–2 tablespoons of the prepared filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to form a half-moon shape and press the edges firmly with a fork to seal the pies tightly.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Transfer the sealed hand pies onto the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops of each pie with the beaten egg to help them brown beautifully during baking. Cut a small slit on top of each for steam to escape.
  6. Bake: Bake the hand pies in the preheated oven for 18–22 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and the crust is cooked through.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the hand pies to cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally dipped in marinara or ranch.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize these hand pies by adding your favorite pizza toppings like mushrooms, jalapeños, or extra cheese.
  • For a more bread-like texture, substitute refrigerated pie crust with store-bought pizza dough.
  • Serve with warm marinara or ranch dressing for dipping.
  • Ensure edges are sealed well to prevent filling leakage during baking.
