Ingredients
Scale
Noodles
- 8 oz rice noodles or lo mein noodles
Proteins
- 1/2 lb steak (e.g., sirloin), thinly sliced
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Vegetables & Aromatics
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 2 green onions, chopped
Seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook Noodles: Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain them well and set aside to keep warm.
- Make Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil until fully combined. Set this sauce mixture aside for later use.
- Cook Proteins: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Stir-fry the thinly sliced steak for 2-3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside. Next, add the shrimp to the same skillet and cook for around 1-2 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the minced garlic and grated ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.
- Cook Vegetables: Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry these vegetables for 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp, retaining their bright colors and natural crunch.
- Combine: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the cooked noodles and pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over everything. Toss well to coat all ingredients evenly with the sauce.
- Finish: Cook the entire mixture for an additional 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until everything is heated through. Remove from heat and garnish with the chopped green onions before serving immediately.
Notes
- Use rice noodles for a gluten-free option or lo mein noodles for a chewier texture.
- Adjust the amount of soy sauce and oyster sauce based on your preferred saltiness.
- For a spicier version, add chili flakes or fresh chopped chili to the aromatics step.
- Be careful not to overcook shrimp to keep them tender.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in a skillet.
