Description

A quick and flavorful stir-fried noodle dish featuring tender steak and succulent shrimp, combined with fresh vegetables and a savory Asian-inspired sauce. Perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Noodles

  • 8 oz rice noodles or lo mein noodles

Proteins

  • 1/2 lb steak (e.g., sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Vegetables & Aromatics

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Noodles: Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain them well and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Make Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil until fully combined. Set this sauce mixture aside for later use.
  3. Cook Proteins: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Stir-fry the thinly sliced steak for 2-3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside. Next, add the shrimp to the same skillet and cook for around 1-2 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  4. Sauté Aromatics: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the minced garlic and grated ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.
  5. Cook Vegetables: Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry these vegetables for 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp, retaining their bright colors and natural crunch.
  6. Combine: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the cooked noodles and pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over everything. Toss well to coat all ingredients evenly with the sauce.
  7. Finish: Cook the entire mixture for an additional 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until everything is heated through. Remove from heat and garnish with the chopped green onions before serving immediately.

Notes

  • Use rice noodles for a gluten-free option or lo mein noodles for a chewier texture.
  • Adjust the amount of soy sauce and oyster sauce based on your preferred saltiness.
  • For a spicier version, add chili flakes or fresh chopped chili to the aromatics step.
  • Be careful not to overcook shrimp to keep them tender.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in a skillet.
