Description

These Smash Chicken Caesar Tacos combine flavorful ground chicken with classic Caesar salad elements for a quick, delicious twist on traditional tacos. Perfect for a speedy weeknight dinner, this recipe offers crispy chicken-crusted tortillas filled with fresh romaine, creamy Caesar dressing, parmesan cheese, and crispy bacon bits, delivering a satisfying crunch and savory flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Mixture

  • 500g ground chicken
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Tacos

  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1/2 head romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1/3 cup Caesar dressing
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 3 tbsp bacon bits
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ground Chicken Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the meat.
  2. Assemble Tacos: Spread a thin, even layer of the seasoned ground chicken on the back side of each small flour tortilla, pressing the meat down firmly to adhere to the tortilla.
  3. Cook Tacos: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of avocado oil. Place the tortillas chicken side down in the skillet and cook until the chicken is cooked through and turns golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes. Then flip each tortilla and cook the other side until crispy.
  4. Add Toppings: Remove the cooked chicken-tortillas from the skillet and top each with chopped romaine lettuce, a drizzle of Caesar dressing, grated parmesan cheese, and crispy bacon bits. Optionally, toss the romaine lettuce in Caesar dressing beforehand for a salad-style filling.
  5. Serve: Fold up the tacos carefully and serve immediately while warm and crispy for the best texture and flavor experience.

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken layer on the tortillas is thin enough to cook through quickly.
  • Feel free to substitute flour tortillas with corn tortillas for a different texture or to make the recipe gluten free.
  • You can prepare the Caesar salad topping in advance and assemble just before serving.
  • Use fresh bacon bits or crispy cooked bacon pieces for best flavor.
  • Avocado oil is ideal for cooking due to its high smoke point but any neutral oil works as well.
