Ingredients
Scale
Lasagna Roll-Ups
- 12 lasagna noodles sheets
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook Noodles: Boil lasagna noodles in a large pot of salted water until al dente, approximately 8 to 10 minutes. Drain the noodles and lay them flat on a clean kitchen towel to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Meat Sauce: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the finely chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, then stir in 1 cup of marinara sauce. Simmer the mixture for a few minutes to blend flavors.
- Assemble Roll-Ups: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Take one lasagna noodle and spread 2 to 3 tablespoons of ricotta cheese along its length. Add a spoonful of the meat sauce on top and roll the noodle tightly. Place each roll seam-side down in the baking dish. Repeat with the remaining noodles.
- Bake the Roll-Ups: Pour the remaining marinara sauce evenly over the rolled noodles. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Serve: Let the lasagna roll-ups cool for a few minutes before serving to allow the fillings to set, then garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- For easier rolling, ensure the lasagna noodles are completely cooled and laid flat after cooking.
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or sausage for variation.
- Add fresh spinach or mushrooms to the meat sauce for extra veggies.
- Use no-boil lasagna noodles to save time; adjust cooking time accordingly.
- Covering the dish with foil during baking helps keep moisture in and prevents the top from burning.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
