Description

Kentucky Hot Brown Sliders are a delicious twist on the classic Southern Hot Brown sandwich, featuring layers of roasted turkey, crispy bacon, ripe tomatoes, and a creamy cheese sauce, all baked atop soft slider rolls. Perfect for game day or party platters, these cheesy turkey sliders are easy to assemble and deliver a warm, comforting bite every time.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 12 slider rolls (Hawaiian or dinner rolls)
  • 1/2 pound sliced roasted turkey breast
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, cut in half
  • 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced

Cheese Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp white cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Topping

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cheese sauce: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Whisk in 1 tablespoon of flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Slowly whisk in 1 cup of whole milk and continue cooking until the sauce thickens, about 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp white cheddar cheese, and 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Assemble the sliders: Carefully slice the entire block of 12 slider rolls horizontally without separating them. Place the bottom halves of the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Layer the sliced roasted turkey evenly over the bottom rolls, followed by thin slices of tomato and the halved cooked bacon pieces.
  3. Add the cheese sauce and top the sliders: Pour the prepared cheese sauce evenly over the layered turkey, tomato, and bacon. Replace the top halves of the slider rolls onto the assembly. Brush the tops with 1 tablespoon of melted butter to promote browning during baking.
  4. Bake the sliders: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to heat through and meld flavors. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the cheese sauce is bubbly.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oven, slice the sliders apart, and serve warm. These sliders are best enjoyed fresh but can also be prepared ahead and baked before serving.

Notes

  • These sliders are perfect for game day or party platters.
  • You can assemble them ahead of time and bake just before serving.
  • Swap turkey for ham if desired to change up the flavor.
