Description

This Hot Honey Mango Tajín Margarita is a vibrant and refreshing cocktail that combines the tropical sweetness of mango with the spicy kick of hot honey and Tajín seasoning. Perfectly balanced with lime juice, orange liqueur, and your choice of spirit, this margarita can be enjoyed blended frozen or shaken over ice, making it a versatile and exciting drink for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Mango Purée

  • 1 cup frozen organic mango chunks
  • 1-2 tsp hot honey
  • Pinch of chili powder (optional)

Margarita

  • 2 oz spirit of your choice (tequila recommended)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz Cointreau or other orange liqueur
  • ½ cup mango purée (from above)
  • 1 cup ice

For Serving

  • Tajín for the rim
  • Lime wedge for garnish
  • 1 dried árbol pepper

Instructions

  1. Make the Mango Purée: Blend the frozen mango chunks, hot honey, and chili powder (if using) until smooth. If the purée is too thick, add a splash of water or lime juice to adjust the consistency for a creamy and pourable texture.
  2. Rim the Glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip it into Tajín, ensuring the entire rim is evenly coated with the flavorful spice for an added zing.
  3. Mix the Margarita: For a frozen margarita, combine the spirit, lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice in a blender and blend until smooth. For a shaken margarita, add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake well, and strain into the Tajín-rimmed glass filled with fresh ice.
  4. Garnish & Serve: Drizzle some hot honey inside the glass to infuse extra sweetness and spice. Rinse and deseed the dried árbol pepper for a milder kick or leave seeds in for more intense heat, then add it to the glass. Finish by garnishing with a lime wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of hot honey and chili powder to control the heat level.
  • Tequila is the classic spirit for margaritas, but feel free to use mezcal or vodka if preferred.
  • To make a less spicy version, omit the chili powder and use less hot honey.
  • The frozen mango chunks also help chill the drink, reducing or eliminating the need for extra ice.
