Ingredients
Scale
Sauce and Marinade
- â…“ cup (133 g) honey
- â…“ cup (85 g) soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled, deveined, tails removed
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
- 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 ring (13 ounces) kielbasa sausage, sliced into ½-inch rounds
For Serving
- Cooked white rice
- Parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Make sauce. In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
- Marinate shrimp. Place the shrimp in a large zip-top bag, pour in â…“ of the sauce, seal the bag removing excess air, and gently massage to coat shrimp evenly. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes and up to 2 hours.
- Cook broccoli. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add broccoli florets and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 5 minutes. Transfer broccoli to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
- Heat sausage. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the sliced kielbasa sausage and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes.
- Cook shrimp. Add the marinated shrimp to the skillet with the sausage, discarding the marinade left in the bag. Cook shrimp for 1-2 minutes on each side until fully cooked and opaque.
- Add reserved sauce and simmer. Pour the reserved sauce into the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes to let the sauce thicken slightly and coat the shrimp and sausage.
- Toss broccoli with shrimp and sausage. Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet and toss everything together until well coated with sauce.
- Serve over rice. Spoon the honey garlic shrimp, sausage, and broccoli mixture over cooked white rice. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Marinating shrimp enhances flavor but do not marinate for longer than 2 hours to maintain texture.
- Use fresh garlic for best flavor, but garlic powder can be substituted in a pinch.
- For a spicier dish, increase red pepper flakes to your liking.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
- Substitute chicken sausage or turkey kielbasa for a leaner option.
