Ingredients

Scale

Sauce and Marinade

  • â…“ cup (133 g) honey
  • â…“ cup (85 g) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled, deveined, tails removed
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 ring (13 ounces) kielbasa sausage, sliced into ½-inch rounds

For Serving

  • Cooked white rice
  • Parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make sauce. In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
  2. Marinate shrimp. Place the shrimp in a large zip-top bag, pour in â…“ of the sauce, seal the bag removing excess air, and gently massage to coat shrimp evenly. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes and up to 2 hours.
  3. Cook broccoli. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add broccoli florets and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 5 minutes. Transfer broccoli to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
  4. Heat sausage. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the sliced kielbasa sausage and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Cook shrimp. Add the marinated shrimp to the skillet with the sausage, discarding the marinade left in the bag. Cook shrimp for 1-2 minutes on each side until fully cooked and opaque.
  6. Add reserved sauce and simmer. Pour the reserved sauce into the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes to let the sauce thicken slightly and coat the shrimp and sausage.
  7. Toss broccoli with shrimp and sausage. Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet and toss everything together until well coated with sauce.
  8. Serve over rice. Spoon the honey garlic shrimp, sausage, and broccoli mixture over cooked white rice. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Marinating shrimp enhances flavor but do not marinate for longer than 2 hours to maintain texture.
  • Use fresh garlic for best flavor, but garlic powder can be substituted in a pinch.
  • For a spicier dish, increase red pepper flakes to your liking.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
  • Substitute chicken sausage or turkey kielbasa for a leaner option.
