Ingredients
Scale
Pastry
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
Cheese Filling
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Herbs & Seasoning
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp salt
For Egg Wash
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Prepare filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, chopped parsley, chopped chives, garlic powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Cut pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 2-inch squares for uniform bites.
- Fill pastry squares: Place about 1 teaspoon of the cheese and herb mixture in the center of each pastry square. Fold each square over to form a triangle or envelope shape and press the edges firmly to seal and prevent leakage during baking.
- Brush & bake: Using a brush, coat the tops of the filled pastries with the beaten egg to achieve a golden, glossy finish. Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are puffed up and golden brown.
- Serve: Remove the pastry bites from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm as a flavorful party appetizer or a delicious snack.
Notes
- Make sure the cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps in the filling.
- Chop herbs finely to evenly distribute them in the cheese filling.
- You can customize the filling by adding other herbs or spices according to your taste.
- If you prefer, freeze any leftover puff pastry for later use.
- Serve these bites immediately for the best flaky texture; they may lose crispness if stored for long.
