Ingredients
Scale
Mac and Cheese
- 1 box of Mac and Cheese (plus ingredients needed to prepare it, such as butter and milk)
Monster Slime Sauce
- 4 cups fresh baby spinach
- 3 tablespoons water, divided
Spooky Eyeballs
- 1 cheese stick
- 4 black olives
Seasonings
- Pinch of salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Mac and Cheese: Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain the pasta and mix in the cheese mixture along with butter and milk as directed on the box, creating a creamy base.
- Make the Monster Slime Sauce: Place the fresh baby spinach and 2 tablespoons of water in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for about 2 minutes until the spinach is wilted and soft.
- Blend the Spinach Puree: Allow the wilted spinach to cool slightly, then transfer it to a blender. Add 1 tablespoon of water and blend until smooth and bright green, forming the spooky slime sauce.
- Add the Monster Slime to Mac and Cheese: Stir the vibrant green spinach puree thoroughly into the prepared mac and cheese, ensuring the sauce turns a uniform, bright green color. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Create the Spooky Eyeballs: Slice the cheese stick into thick rounds. Using a small spoon or knife, punch a hole in the center of each round and place a black olive slice in the center to resemble creepy eyeballs.
- Assemble the Halloween Mac and Cheese: Serve the green mac and cheese on plates or in bowls, topping each serving with the spooky eyeballs for a fun and festive Halloween presentation.
Notes
- Use fresh baby spinach for the brightest green color and best flavor.
- If you don’t have a microwave, you can wilt the spinach on the stovetop with a little water.
- For extra spooky detail, consider using sliced cherry tomatoes or roasted red pepper pieces for bloodshot eyeballs instead of olives.
- This recipe serves 4 but can easily be doubled for larger groups.
- Make sure to blend the spinach thoroughly to avoid lumps and achieve a smooth slime texture.
