Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 8 oz pasta (spaghetti or preferred type)
Sauce
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup reserved pasta water
Garnish
- Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Once al dente, drain the pasta and reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water for later use.
- Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.
- Toss Pasta in Garlic Butter: Add the cooked pasta into the skillet with the garlic butter and toss well to coat the noodles evenly with the flavorful mixture.
- Add Parmesan and Pasta Water: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese along with the reserved pasta water. Toss everything together to combine and create a creamy sauce. Add more pasta water if needed to reach your desired consistency.
- Season and Garnish: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired, then serve immediately for a delicious and comforting meal.
Notes
- Be careful not to burn the garlic as it will turn bitter and affect the flavor.
- You can substitute Parmesan with Pecorino Romano for a sharper taste.
- Reserve some pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency and help it cling to the noodles.
- For extra protein, add cooked chicken or shrimp on top.
- This recipe is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
