Description

Garlic-Lemon Sautéed Shrimp is a quick and flavorful dish featuring succulent large shrimp cooked in olive oil with fragrant garlic, fresh lemon zest and juice, and a hint of red pepper flakes. Perfect for a healthy, gluten-free main course, this recipe brings bright citrus notes and a touch of heat to a simple sauté, ready in just 11 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Seasonings

  • 1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

For Sautéing and Flavor

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 lemon (zested and juiced)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Oil and Garlic: Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but avoid browning to keep the garlic flavor fresh and bright.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on one side until the shrimp start turning pink and opaque.
  3. Flip and Finish Cooking: Flip the shrimp and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until fully cooked through and just pink inside.
  4. Add Lemon and Finish: Pour in the lemon juice and sprinkle the lemon zest over the shrimp, stirring well to coat evenly and infuse the bright citrus flavor.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat, sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the shrimp, and serve immediately. This dish goes wonderfully with crusty bread, rice, or your favorite vegetables.

Notes

  • For a creamier version, add a splash of heavy cream or a pat of butter near the end of cooking.
  • Swap parsley with fresh cilantro or basil to change the herbal flavor profile.
  • Add a lemon wedge on the side for extra lemon juice at the table.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with a light white wine or a crisp fresh salad.
