Ingredients
Scale
Dough and Seasoning
- 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough or crescent roll dough
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
Filling
- 1/2 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
Optional Toppings
- 1/4 cup salsa or taco sauce
- Sour cream
- Chopped green onions
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dough: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a mini muffin tin. Separate the biscuit or crescent dough into individual portions and press each piece into the muffin cups to form small dough cups.
- Make Garlic Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine melted butter with garlic powder and dried parsley. Brush this flavorful mixture evenly over the dough cups to infuse them with garlic butter goodness.
- Cook the Meat: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef or turkey until it’s browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Season the Meat: Stir in the taco seasoning and water into the cooked meat, then simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture thickens and flavors meld together.
- Assemble the Bites: Spoon the seasoned meat mixture evenly into each garlic buttered dough cup. Top each with shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese for a melty finish.
- Bake: Place the mini muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough cups are golden brown and the cheese has melted beautifully.
- Garnish and Serve: Allow the bites to cool slightly. Optionally, add a small dollop of salsa or sour cream on top and sprinkle with chopped green onions. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Prep the meat filling ahead of time and assemble the bites just before baking to save time on game day or parties.
- Customize the filling by adding black beans, corn, or jalapeños for extra flavor and texture.
- Use turkey instead of beef for a leaner alternative.
- Serve with additional salsa or sour cream on the side for dipping.
