Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Garlic Butter
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
Garnish
- Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm water, mixing as you go, until a dough begins to form. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Make the garlic butter: While the dough is rising, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic to the butter and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Shape the flatbread: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air and divide it into 2 equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle or oval shape on a floured surface, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cook the flatbread: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place one of the dough rounds in the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown spots form on the bottom. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until both sides are cooked through and golden. Repeat with the second piece of dough.
- Add garlic butter: Once the flatbreads are cooked, brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture while they’re still hot.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the top of the garlic buttered flatbreads for a burst of color and freshness. Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use warm water to help activate the yeast for proper rising.
- Make sure the skillet is hot before cooking to get nice golden spots on the flatbread.
- You can add chili flakes to the garlic butter for a spicy kick.
- Consume freshly made or reheat gently for best texture.
- Store leftover flatbread in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
