Potatoes:
- 2 pounds russet potatoes (peeled and thinly sliced)
Cheese Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Garnish:
- Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Make the Cheese Sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thickened. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and mix in cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until smooth.
- Layer Potatoes and Cheese Sauce: Place half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish and pour half of the cheese sauce over them. Repeat with remaining potatoes and cheese sauce.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden and potatoes are tender.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with parsley before serving if desired.
