Scale
Dip Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (Can use avocado oil, butter, or ghee.)
- 2 medium Onions (yellow or red onions recommended)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 cup Non-Fat Greek Yogurt (regular yogurt, cottage cheese, or half cream cheese can be used as alternatives)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce (coconut aminos or low sodium soy sauce as substitution)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 tablespoon Dried Parsley (or fresh parsley if available)
- 0.5 teaspoon Garlic Powder (optional if using fresh garlic only)
Instructions
- Heat Oil: In a sauté pan, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil over low heat to prepare for caramelizing the onions.
- Caramelize Onions: Add the sliced onions and minced garlic to the pan. Cook slowly for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions turn golden brown and develop a sweet, rich flavor.
- Cool Onions: Remove the caramelized onions from heat and allow them to cool for 5-10 minutes so they don’t curdle the yogurt when mixed.
- Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled onions with 1 cup of non-fat Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon salt, 0.5 teaspoon black pepper, 1 tablespoon dried parsley, and 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder (if using). Mix well until fully incorporated.
- Serve & Enjoy: Serve the dip immediately with your choice of tortilla chips, pita bread, or fresh vegetables for a delicious and healthy snack.
