Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Layer
- 1 box (18 oz) fudge brownie mix
- Eggs, as directed on the package
- Oil, as directed on the package
- Water, as directed on the package
Cream Cheese Swirl
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- â…“ cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9-inch or 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
- Make Brownie Batter: Prepare the brownie batter according to the package directions by mixing the brownie mix with eggs, oil, and water as specified. Pour most of the batter into the prepared pan, reserving about half a cup for later use on top.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract together until smooth and creamy, ensuring no lumps remain.
- Layer and Swirl: Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the brownie batter in the pan. Drop spoonfuls of the reserved brownie batter over the cream cheese layer, then use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the two layers together, creating a beautiful marbled effect.
- Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes if using a 9×9 pan, or 30–35 minutes if using a 9×13 pan. The brownies are done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing to ensure clean cuts and the best texture. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra richness and texture, fold chocolate chips into the brownie batter before layering.
- Chill the brownies before cutting to achieve cleaner slices and easier handling.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
