Description

This festive Christmas Popcorn recipe is a delightful and colorful treat perfect for holiday gatherings. Crisp popcorn is mixed with crunchy pretzels, vibrant red and green M&M’s, and optional crushed candy canes, all coated in a luscious drizzle of melted white chocolate. Sprinkled with holiday sprinkles, this sweet and salty snack is easy to prepare and sure to spread cheer at any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn Base

  • 10 cups popped popcorn

Mix-Ins

  • 1 cup mini pretzels, broken into pieces
  • 1 cup red and green M&M’s
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes (optional)

Coating and Garnish

  • 12 oz white chocolate or vanilla almond bark, melted
  • 1/4 cup red and green sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Popcorn: Pop 10 cups of popcorn using your preferred method. Make sure to remove any unpopped kernels to avoid biting into hard pieces. Place the popcorn in a large mixing bowl to prepare for the additions.
  2. Add Mix-Ins: Add broken pretzel pieces, red and green M&M’s, and crushed candy canes to the popcorn. The candy canes are optional but add a festive crunch and peppermint flavor to the mix.
  3. Drizzle with White Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate or vanilla almond bark according to package instructions or gently in the microwave, stirring frequently. Drizzle the melted chocolate evenly over the popcorn mixture, then gently stir to coat all the pieces without breaking the popcorn.
  4. Add Sprinkles: While the chocolate is still warm and pliable, sprinkle the red and green sprinkles over the popcorn. Gently toss again to distribute the sprinkles evenly throughout the mixture for a colorful finish.
  5. Let Set: Spread the coated popcorn mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Allow it to sit at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes, letting the white chocolate harden and set, binding the ingredients together.
  6. Break and Serve: Once the chocolate has hardened, break the popcorn into clusters of desired size. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Make sure to remove all unpopped kernels for safe eating.
  • For easier melting, chop the white chocolate or almond bark into small pieces before melting.
  • Use a silicone spatula or wooden spoon when stirring to avoid popping the popcorn.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep the popcorn fresh and the coating crisp.
  • Optional crushed candy canes add a peppermint twist, but can be omitted if desired.
