Description

Delicious and fluffy chocolate chip pancakes made with simple ingredients, perfect for a sweet morning treat. These pancakes combine the comfort of all-purpose flour with the indulgence of melted butter and chocolate chips, cooked on a skillet until golden brown and served warm for a delightful breakfast experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup dark or milk chocolate chips, regular or mini

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled

For Cooking

  • 2 Tbsp butter for greasing the skillet

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients: Sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and granulated sugar into a large mixing bowl. Stir in the chocolate chips evenly and set aside.
  2. Prepare wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the large egg, vanilla extract, whole milk, and melted unsalted butter until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Combine wet and dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with dry ingredients and whisk gently just until combined. Be careful not to overmix to keep the pancakes fluffy.
  4. Heat skillet: Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, add 1 tablespoon of butter to grease the surface, ensuring the pancakes won’t stick.
  5. Cook pancakes: Using a 1/3 cup measuring cup, pour the batter onto the skillet. Optionally, sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top. Cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface and edges look firm, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve: Remove the cooked pancakes from the skillet and repeat the process with remaining batter. You should yield about 8 pancakes. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings while still warm.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to avoid tough pancakes.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or well-seasoned griddle for best results.
  • You can substitute milk with a non-dairy alternative if desired, but it may slightly alter texture.
  • Adding extra chocolate chips on top before flipping adds more melty goodness.
  • Serve with syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
