Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Layer
- 1 cup dark chocolate morsels
- 1/2 tablespoon canola oil (half of total)
Vanilla Mint Layer
- 1 cup vanilla baking chips
- 1/2 tablespoon canola oil (remaining half)
- 1 teaspoon mint essence
Toppings
- 1/4 cup crushed mint candies (or crushed mint chocolate)
- 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Prepare the Tray: Line a baking tray with parchment paper to prevent the candy buttons from sticking and to make removal easier once set.
- Melt Dark Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine dark chocolate morsels with half of the canola oil. Heat in 30-second bursts, stirring thoroughly after each interval until the chocolate is fully melted and silky smooth.
- Form Dark Chocolate Dollops: Spoon small dollops of the melted dark chocolate onto the prepared tray, spacing them about an inch apart to allow for decoration and setting.
- Melt Vanilla Mint Mixture: In another microwave-safe bowl, mix vanilla baking chips with the remaining canola oil and mint essence. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring after each until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Drizzle Vanilla Mint: Drizzle the melted vanilla mint mixture over the dark chocolate dollops in a decorative zigzag pattern to create a marbled effect.
- Add Toppings: While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle crushed mint candies and flaky sea salt evenly over the tops to add crunch and a hint of saltiness.
- Chill to Set: Place the tray in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to let the candy buttons firm up completely and develop a solid texture.
- Remove and Store: Once hardened, gently peel the candy buttons off the parchment paper. Store them in a sealed container at room temperature to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Ensure chocolates are fully melted and smooth for the best texture and appearance.
- Crush mint candies finely for even distribution but leave some larger pieces for added crunch.
- If you prefer a stronger mint flavor, add a few drops more mint essence cautiously.
- Store candies in a cool, dry place to prevent melting or blooming of chocolate.
