Description

These Cajun-Spiced Chicken Strips are tender, flavorful, and versatile. Coated in a bold blend of smoked paprika, garlic, and cayenne, they can be baked or pan-fried to perfection, making a perfect main dish or appetizer that’s both easy to prepare and packed with Cajun-inspired zest.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Marinade

  • 1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Garnish (Optional)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine olive oil with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a spice marinade.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Add the chicken strips into the bowl with the marinade and toss thoroughly to coat all pieces evenly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours to enhance flavor.
  3. Preheat Cooking Method: For baking, preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. If pan-frying, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and lightly oil it.
  4. Cook the Chicken (Baking): Arrange the marinated chicken strips on the baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 18–20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the strips are cooked through and golden around the edges.
  5. Cook the Chicken (Pan-Frying): Place the chicken strips in the hot skillet without overcrowding. Cook each side for 3–4 minutes until browned and fully cooked internally.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve the chicken strips hot with dipping sauces, over rice, salads, or wrapped in tortillas.

Notes

  • You can grill these chicken strips for a smoky flavor alternative.
  • For extra crispiness, coat the chicken strips in seasoned breadcrumbs before baking.
  • Perfect for meal prep or serving as party appetizers.
