- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Potatoes
- 2-3 medium potatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for potatoes)
Beef
- 500 grams lean beef mince/ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking beef)
- Half of the spice mix (reserved for beef)
Bowl Toppings
- Lettuce (shredded)
- Cheese (dairy-free or regular, as preferred)
- Pickle slices
Burger Sauce
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon mustard (Dijon or yellow)
- 1 teaspoon pickle juice (from jar of pickles)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions
- Prepare the spice mix: In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano or mixed herbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside for later use.
- Prep potatoes: Wash the potatoes thoroughly and cut them into chip-sized pieces. Pat dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture for crispiness.
- Season and cook potatoes: Place the cut potatoes in a large mixing bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and half of the prepared spice mix. Toss well to coat evenly. Arrange the potatoes in a single layer on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 30 to 40 minutes until golden and crispy. Alternatively, you can air fry the potatoes for around 20 minutes until crispy.
- Cook the beef: While the potatoes cook, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add the ground beef and break it apart using a wooden spoon. Once browned, sprinkle in the remaining half of the spice mix. Continue cooking until the beef darkens and any extra moisture evaporates to develop rich flavor.
- Make the burger sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Stir until smooth. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.
- Assemble the bowls: Divide the cooked crispy potatoes evenly among serving bowls. Add shredded lettuce to fill the remaining space. Top with the cooked spiced beef, cheese slices or shreds, and pickle slices. Drizzle the burger sauce generously over the ingredients. Serve immediately while warm and fresh.
