Description

A delightful and unique naan pizza featuring a blend of sweet and savory flavors with honey-caramelized onions, tangy feta, creamy ricotta, juicy blueberries, and fresh arugula, all baked to perfection on soft naan bread.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 2 naan flatbreads
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Water spray or brush (for naan)

Caramelized Onions

  • 1 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Cheese Mixture

  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese

Toppings

  • 1 cup blueberries
  • Micro arugula or baby arugula for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the naan flatbreads on the baking sheet and lightly spray or brush them with water to prevent drying out. Set aside.
  2. Caramelize the onions: Heat the olive oil in a medium pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced red onions and season with a pinch of kosher salt and red pepper flakes. Cook gently, stirring occasionally, until the onions are wilted, about 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in the honey and continue cooking to caramelize the onions, ensuring they become soft and golden. Remove from heat when caramelized.
  3. Prepare cheese spread and assemble: While the onions cook, stir together ricotta and feta cheeses in a small bowl until well combined. Spread this cheese mixture evenly over each naan flatbread. Then, layer the honey-caramelized onions on top, followed by scattering the fresh blueberries over each pizza.
  4. Bake the pizzas: Place the assembled naan pizzas into the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the blueberries start to soften and burst, the cheese is warmed and slightly softened, and the naan is toasted and crisp around the edges.
  5. Garnish and serve: Remove the naan pizzas from the oven. Immediately sprinkle with micro arugula or baby arugula and serve hot for best flavor and texture enjoyment.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh naan bread that is soft but sturdy enough to hold the toppings.
  • If micro arugula is unavailable, regular baby arugula is a great substitute.
  • The water spray or brushing of water on the naan before baking helps keep the flatbread from drying out and ensures a soft but toasted texture.
  • This pizza combines sweet and savory flavors, so feel free to adjust the honey and red pepper flakes to your taste.
