Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Dough
- 1 ball (about 12 ounces) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Ricotta Mixture
- 3/4 cup whole-milk ricotta cheese
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- Salt and pepper to taste
Toppings
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup crumbled goat cheese (optional)
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (torn or sliced)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat thoroughly for an even and crispy bake.
- Prepare Dough: On a floured surface, roll or stretch the pizza dough into a 10–12 inch circle. Transfer the shaped dough onto a piece of parchment paper for easy transfer to the oven.
- Brush Dough: Lightly brush the dough with olive oil to create a golden crust and add flavor during baking.
- Mix Ricotta: In a small bowl, combine whole-milk ricotta cheese with lemon zest, salt, and black pepper to taste, enhancing the creamy base with subtle citrus and seasoning.
- Assemble Pizza: Spread the ricotta mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Scatter shredded mozzarella and optional crumbled goat cheese over the ricotta layer. Gently press fresh blackberries into the cheese topping to anchor them in place.
- Bake: Carefully slide the pizza, still on the parchment paper, onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling and slightly melted.
- Finish & Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, drizzle with honey evenly, and sprinkle fresh torn or sliced basil leaves atop for a fragrant, flavorful finish. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- For added flavor, drizzle balsamic glaze over the pizza after baking for a tangy sweetness.
- This pizza works wonderfully as an appetizer or a light main dish when paired with a fresh green salad.
- Use high-quality ricotta cheese to ensure a creamy and smooth texture.
