Description

This Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza combines the comforting flavors of classic Southern biscuits and sausage gravy with the convenience of a breakfast pizza. Fluffy biscuit crust, savory sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and melted cheddar cheese make this hearty dish perfect for brunch or a satisfying breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (or 1 homemade biscuit recipe)

Sausage Gravy

  • ½ lb breakfast sausage
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare crust: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease or line a baking sheet or pizza pan with parchment paper. Separate the biscuit dough and press the pieces together on the baking sheet to form a large round or rectangle, sealing edges to create an even crust. Bake for 8–10 minutes until lightly golden.
  2. Make sausage gravy: While the crust bakes, cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles until browned. Do not drain the fat. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir to coat evenly. Cook for 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste, then gradually add milk while stirring. Simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and black pepper.
  3. Prepare scrambled eggs: In a separate pan, melt butter and scramble the eggs over medium-low heat until just set but still moist. Remove from heat.
  4. Assemble the pizza: Spread the warm sausage gravy evenly over the par-baked biscuit crust. Top with scrambled eggs and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  5. Bake to finish: Return the assembled pizza to the oven and bake for another 8–10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  6. Garnish and serve: Optionally garnish with chopped fresh parsley, slice into portions, and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can prepare the sausage gravy ahead of time and reheat it before assembling the pizza.
  • For extra flavor, add toppings like cooked bacon, hash browns, or sautéed peppers.
  • Use homemade biscuit dough for a more rustic and fresh crust if desired.
  • Leftover breakfast pizza can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven or microwave.
