Ingredients

Scale

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon cracked red pepper flakes

Main Ingredients

  • 2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles, seasoning packets discarded
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, trimmed of fat and sliced into 1 1/2-inch strips (about 1/4-inch thickness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and cornstarch until fully combined, ensuring no lumps remain. Then add the beef broth, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cracked red pepper flakes. Stir until smooth and set the sauce mixture aside.
  2. Cook the ramen: Bring a pot of water to a boil and add the ramen noodles. Cook them for 2 to 3 minutes until just tender. Drain the noodles, rinse under cold water to stop cooking, and toss with 1 teaspoon of sesame oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Sear the steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the sirloin strips with kosher salt and ground black pepper. Add the steak to the hot skillet and cook until well browned on all sides, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Cook the broccoli: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil along with 1/2 cup of water. Add the broccoli florets, cover the skillet, and steam the broccoli until tender but still crisp, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Combine ingredients: Return the cooked sirloin back to the skillet with the steamed broccoli and the prepared ramen noodles. Stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
  6. Add the sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the steak, broccoli, and noodles in the skillet. Cook everything together over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats all the ingredients, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Serve: Transfer the stir fry to serving plates or bowls. Garnish generously with toasted sesame seeds. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade beef and broccoli ramen stir fry!

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a drizzle of sriracha sauce.
  • If gluten-free soy sauce is needed, substitute tamari for the soy sauce.
  • Use fresh ginger for best flavor, but ground ginger can be substituted in a pinch.
  • Be careful not to overcook the broccoli; it should retain some crunch for the best texture.
  • To save time, use pre-cut broccoli florets and pre-sliced beef if available.
