Description

These Baked Honey Garlic Meatballs feature juicy ground beef meatballs baked to perfection and coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect as a main course or appetizer, they are an easy and flavorful weeknight dinner option inspired by Asian flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Meatball Mixture: Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped green onions, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined to keep the meatballs tender.
  2. Shape and Bake Meatballs: Roll the mixture into 1 to 1 1/2-inch meatballs and place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and browned on the outside.
  3. Prepare Honey Garlic Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and rice vinegar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens to a glossy consistency.
  4. Coat Meatballs and Serve: When the meatballs are done baking, transfer them to a bowl and toss with the warm honey garlic sauce until fully coated. Serve immediately paired with your choice of rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • Uncooked meatballs can be frozen for up to 2 months for easy meal prep.
  • For deeper flavor and a crispy finish, broil the meatballs for the last 2 minutes of baking.
