Description

These Apple Pie Biscuits combine the flavors of warm apple pie with the convenience of a biscuit. Tender, flaky biscuits filled with cinnamon-spiced apples, and topped with a sweet glaze, make for a delightful treat any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Wet Ingredients:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • ¾ cup buttermilk (plus more for brushing)

Filling and Glaze:

  • 1½ cups peeled and finely diced apples
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Optional Glaze: ½ cup powdered sugar, 1–2 teaspoons milk, ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in butter: Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add wet ingredients: Stir in buttermilk just until a shaggy dough forms.
  5. Prepare apple filling: Toss diced apples with cinnamon and brown sugar.
  6. Combine dough and filling: Gently fold the apple mixture into the dough.
  7. Shape and bake: Pat dough into a rectangle, cut into biscuits, place on baking sheet, and bake for 15–18 minutes.
  8. Glaze: Brush warm biscuits with melted butter. Drizzle with glaze if desired.

Notes

  • Best served warm with a drizzle of glaze or a pat of butter.
  • Consider using Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for different flavor profiles.
